about:blank
we have the option of using a BLANK PAGE as the homepage for our browser. any new text document is also BLANK.we get BLANK cds, dvds. we can just "shift+delete" n everything will go BLANK(ur heart-attack after losing out on ur data is a different issue though..).....but have u ever wondered..."can i ever blank my mind....completely(ofcourse wen i am totally awake n conscious)...?"
just try it out once...just sit in a room alone...turn everything off,n try to think of nothing..! i mean NOTHING! no tunes in ur head,no worries of catching a bus,no thinkin of the assignments,no nothing ...literally NOTHING!
i have tried n failed N number of times. i havnt ever been able to BLANK MY MIND for more than 5 secs. the nearest i cud get was to think of a huge white screen n nothing else...but HELL..then i started thinking that i am thinking of the screen...so how can i NOT BE THINKING...? i hope u get my point here...
i am serious...i have never been able to think of nothin ever! thats wt irritates me the most about the human mind or the brain. it is so difficult to have control over ur thought process sometimes...like wen u r in a temple n u c a hot chick...u really dont want to think about her as HOT...cuz u r in the temple....but then how many of us can really turn that thought OFF immediately?(if u can...then hats off to u..!) or say u have a terrible tune in ur head n u want to get rid of it...can u really switch over to ur favourite song immediately...? though i am deviating here from my topic,wt i am trying to point out is that it's really difficult to control ur damn thought process..n thts y i find it difficult to blank out my mind.
so try it out...blank ur mind for once.....or in reese's language(for those who watch MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE)--"try to shut ur brain down" and if u succeed...plz feel free to boast about it n rub it in my face in the "comments" section for this blog.

music v/s drugs
so u meet a guy at a rock concert..n u r like...oh...so u too listen to rock...? wt do u listen to...? oh...metallica,i listen to megadeth...ya even creed rocks man....and so it continues. one thing PROBABALY(thts just my opinion...no generalisations here...)both of u r dying to ask each other is "so do u take drugs...?"..considering the "holy" atmosphere around u in a rock concert. i mean wt is it with rock music and drugs or for that matter rave music and drugs...? "i do it for the kicks man.."...someone better KICK u in ur rear. so i thought...y not compare the two things? n oh..wts tht..i have an incoming thought...ofcourse.....blog it out..cuz u r a good-for-nothin engineer at home during vaccations, not that we r(atleast not many of us r) any good wen the college is goin on...
so here it goes...
SHAMIE-waani:
music is legal
music is cheap(almost free..) n available more easily.
u cant use drugs in front of th cops
u cant advertise drugs
u cant have award functions for best drugs
u cant download drugs for free from the net
u cant transport drugs in ur player
music isn't injurious to ur nervous system.
u cant replay drugs once used
u cant have a drug video
there is no such thing as a drug about music(atleast not that i know of)
u can share music without any fear of getting caught.
(one very important difference)u cant copy drugs n maintain their back-up.
DG-waani:
music elates u .drugs create an ilusion of elating u...whereas u r actually drowning
music brings u closer to ur self.....drugs take everythng away.
ASHISH-waani:
taking drugs u ll faint for ever ....but listening to music u can't faint .......(Linkin Park)......:P
so wt do u think...? neat enuff..? if u have any more points to be added up in this...feel free to tell me...i'll add them happily..

DIL SE..
namste dude-log.shamanth here. as the vacation mood has set in..i'll try something i have never done before practically, but have done a million times mentally, every time listen to my favourite songs--dissect it thoroughly,bit-by bit and beat-by-beat. inspired by roy's analysis of YEH HASEEN WAADIYAAN,i'll b trying my hand at this...dunno if it'll be good....so spare me if u find anythin boring..
first up...lemme start by paying my homage to the GOD of MUSIC-"MR. AR RAHMAN". many of u reading this may or may not know(i know...a poor statistical guess) that i am a fan of his music since i can remember....
so anyway...i'll start with the analysis of one of my most favourite composition of the maestro..."DIL SE". if u want to njoy the analysis..i would suggest u listen to the song using earfones/headfones while reading ahead.....the effect is totally awe-inspiring.
DIL SE(6:41)
(0.00-0.08)
the song starts with a systematic heart-beat-kinda drumming, gently garnished by synchronised bass-guitar plucks and the periodic bell-types sound.(this is the basic rythm of the song followed right through the end of the song)
(0.09-0.12)
after the first 4 sets of beats at the end of 8 secs, the soothing voice of rahman gradually fills the air for the next 2 set of beats.
(0.13-0.28-0.45)
the singing starts with a BANG,and a south-indian accent. it continues till 0.28 secs and the same is repeated from 0.29 to 0.45. this piece ends with BANG and rahman's voice fades away like a scream in a desert would.
(0.46-0.53)
a 4-beat filler..building up the effect.
(0.54-1.12-1.23-1.37-1.54-2.03)
the singing resumes at a much lower pitch(compare it with the pitch in th first section of vocals..this is not even the limit of rahman's vocal range) with the same beats in the background till 1.12,where a light-hit metallic-kinda beat (3+2-kinda-rythm) is heard a bit louder in the right earfone than in the left one(thts wt i think..!). it continues till 1.23. th vocals continue as usual till 1.37 wher the metallic 3+2 beat starts again, but this time at a different line(dil toh akhir dil hai na...),while previously it starts at a later line(pi(starts here)ya piya...piya na piya..) n continues till 1.54. the rest of the segment ends with a rahman-style-weird-lingo-chorus,with a complicated combination of different set of beats..on either side..i mean right-earfone(the same metallic sound in a different rythm) n left earfone.
(2.04-2.42)
a different sound starts..probably which sounds like something the DJs usually do..(not hardcore scratching though..). the chorus n the instrumental fillers are alternated, while the complicated combination of beats mentioned above continue right through the segment.
(2.43-2.54-3.09)
again rahman swoops in with the first stanza..n the chorus joins him,at 2.55,as if from the back of ur head
(effect is perfect if ur still with ur earfones..n not with th speakers),but with a slightly different lyrical-combination at select words..(try to figure it out...!) the segment ends with a heavy-duty-huge-drumming.
(3.12-3.19-3.30)
the vocals continue,with a short piano-keying at 3.19-3.20. the vocals repeat and end with a falling-effect-types vocals+metallic-sounding-drumming
(3.50-3.55-3.59-4.19-4.42)
the stanza ends with a a set of two differnt-pitched voice of rahman.NOW comes the SOUL of the song..one of the best fillers ever composed..! at 3.55 a basic-rythm-building acoustic guitaring fills up till 3.59(slightly louder at th left side). a sufi-style background guitaring starts at 3.59 with an out-of beat-style wooden beat, like a drum-sticks striking effect (louder at the right) till 4.19. Now starts the foot-tapping lead guitaring while the background guitar mentioned above continues with a rythmic bell-types sound on the left-side. the lead finishes off with a heavy-duty-drumming.
(4.43-5.24)
rahman strikes again with a slowly rising voice with the chorus joining in at 4.53 at a low volume. the combination of left-rigth beat combination sneaks up.the short piano-keying reappears at 5.14 and the stanza ends with th same falling-effect-types vocals+metallic-sounding-drumming.
(5.25-6.03-6.18)
the chorus and rahman's vocals are interleaved in a very asymmetric form. the chorus ends at 6.03 and rahman exhales slowly till 6.18
(6.19-6.35)
the soft-spoken background score keeps on going with a few low-volumed flute spikes alongwith the drums n a one-time needle-type sounding chime-beat or smthng at 6.20,as the song gracefully fades away...only to make u wanna hit replay.
i hope u didnt doze off in th middle of the blog....but if u did...then u wouldnt be reading this...so never mind..and dont be shy to send me hate-mails for making u guys go thru this.

how i wish lohgad had a lift....!
the alarm went off at 4 am on the 25th of june'06 and i got up to get ready for my trek to LOHGAD.we were 4 guys.we boarded the general bogie(boy is it crowded.....! it reminded me of the scenes from SWADES...) of INDRAYANI EXPRESS at 6.15 am from THANE station and reached LONAVLA station at 8.00 am. then we reached the next station MALAVLI,by taking a local train from LONAVLA.
thus we started walking from malavli station at 9 am to head towards our "LAKSHYA"..LOHGAD..the first 3-4 kms is a straight and flat road till a point from wer u hav to cross farms to reach the actual ramp.once we started "walking the ramp"..our previously almost inaudible slight huffs and puffs gradually turned into heavy pantings, but it was FUN!
we finally reached the first gate of the fort by 11.15,and then started exploring the various parts of the fort....the architecture of the fort is amazing...i mean....it is built in such a way that u can keep an eye on the enemy in all the possible directions. and if ever any king would have thought of attacking the fort...he would have then thought," arrey chchod yaar....itna upar tak kaun jaayega...pakega..."...but jokes apart i really wonder how people in those days attacked, fought and conquered such forts....
once u reach the fort...there are a lots of things inside it to view.there's a whole new world inside it.it took us about 1 and half hours to explore the most of it...then after having some self-made sandwiches,we rested for sometime and then came the main thing....VINCHU-KAATA...it's an extended part of the fort...which is really difficult to explain in writing..it's actually a bit dangerous to climb down to it...u hav to climb down a vertical wall of rocks...ekdum MI-style...meri fatt rahi thi...but somehow i managed...then we walked to the end of the fort,as shown in the figure...which used to be some kinda ultimate watchpost or something.after enjoying the view for about half-an hour...we returned and started climbing down the fort.we came down to malavli by 6.30.
overall it was a fun experience..

wt crap..!
long time,no c no blog...thats cuz i was "busy" with my "exams".thts right....my exams....3 long,mind-numbingly boring weeks of exams...u shud actually b surprised, hw we engineers survived this torture?..i guess,it's cuz of our interest in the subject, dedication towards learning more and new things...and learning how to face challenges in the most appropriate way(..YEAH RIGHT....i can already hear many giggls..).i guess engineering,or for that matter any course based on semester system teaches u one important thing....
WHEN U ARE SURE U ARE GONNA BE RAPED.......THE LEAST U CAN DO IS ENJOY IT!(with protection..if possibl)
so now tht my exams are over,i can heave a sigh of relief...but much to my books' disappointment,i'll have to start using them in a day or two, owing to my GRE on july 10th.GRE is a side-effect of engg.some others to be mentioned are..CAT,PLACY.usually placy is accompanied with one of the above mentioned,(placy+gre,in my case)but in rare and extreme cases, the patient suffers from all the 3 syndromes, mentioned above.such a disease needs to be cured immediately, cuz it's highly contagious..!
speaking of contagious,i've caught the current football fever..thanx to my friend SHRIRAM CHARY,jiske liye DUNIYA GOAL HAI.anyway man, football is a gud game, atleast much better than cricket. i am thinkin of followin it regularly...lets c if i actually can.
